Mempercantik desktop dengan Conky di Backtrack 5

Bagi Anda yang belum mengetahui, ada satu aplikasi yang lumayan berguna untuk Linux dalam mempercantik tampilan desktop. Nama aplikasi tersebut adalah Conky. Conky adalah sebuah aplikasi desktop yang menampilkan info sistem pemantauan dari jendela root ke desktop. Intinya seperti taskmanager + system info + dll😀

Langsung aja ini adalah screenshot conky di Backtrack 5 saya

Untuk menginstallnya silahkan anda ketik di terminal (harus di root dulu, jika tidak silahkan tambahkan sudo)

root@bt~# add-apt-repository ppa:norsetto/ppa

root@bt~# apt-get update

root@bt~# apt-get install conky-all

Jika anda sudah menginstall, tahap selanjutnya adalah configurasi. Pada Backtrack 5, letak configurasi conky berada pada directory /etc/conky/conky.conf (untuk root). Jika user bisa, berada pada /home/.conky

untuk membuat agar conkynya transparan, install dulu feh dengan mengetik perintah:
root@bt~# apt-get install feh
Setelah feh di install, lalau buat conky.sh di desktop dan isikan script berikut

feh --bg-scale /usr/share/wallpapers/backtrack/Dev_backtrack_v7_v2.jpg | head -n1 | tail --bytes=+11
sleep 15
conky -&

buka terminal, lalu ketik
root@bt~# chmod +x conky.sh
root@bt~# ./conky.sh
Note:
/usr/share/wallpapers/backtrack/Dev_backtrack_v7_v2.jpg (letak directory wallpaper yang anda gunakan)

agar conkynya berjalan saat startup, tambahkan script “conky.sh” di Settings>System Settings>Startup and shutdown>Autostart>add script

cari file conky.sh yang telah kita buat lalu klik Ok.

jika anda ingin mengubah settingan conky namun tidak mengetahui fungsi dari tiap script bisa anda baca disini dan untuk variabel yang ada dalam conky bisa kesini

    yang “apt-get install conky-all” kok gc bisa di install?

      @hakim untuk menginstall conky di backtrack bisa anda ketik perintah dibawah saja.
      root@bt~# apt-get install conky

    gak bisa jalan, acces denied katanya…..

      Login sebagain admin dulu baru coba edit file conky.conf nya.
